Bruins vs. Flames 9 p.m. @ Scotiabank Saddledome
The Bruins continue their 6 game roadtrip in Calgary, Alberta as they take on the upstart Calgary Flames. After a dismal start had most pundits writing off the Flames this season, Jarome Iginla and co. have stepped up their game. Calgary is 7-1-2 in their last 10 games, including a 4-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens in the Heritage classic at frigid McMahon Stadium on Sunday. They sit in 6th place in the Western Conference with 70 points.
The Bruins still sit in 3rd place in the East with 73 points. Having won 2 in a row against cream puff teams has not completely answered the questions regarding the dismal 3 game losing streak a week ago. Rich Peverley makes his Bruins debut wearing # 49 following his trade from the Atlanta Thrashers. The Bruin's Power Play, even without the specialist Tomas Kaberle, has produced at least one goal in each of the last 6 games. Continued production from special teams play will be key for the Black and Gold to have a successful stretch run. Tuukka Rask has played solid the past two games giving Tim Thomas a rest to keep his game sharp.
Securing a W in tonight's contest is crucial as the road trip does not get any easier with 2 more games in Western Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton) with another game against Ottawa thereafter.
Prediction: The Bruins are still working on the chemistry of their new look squad but are able to eek out an overtime victory. Bruins 3 - Flames 2 O/T
