It has been too long. The Bruins FINALLY return to the TD Garden after a 6 game road trip thru Western Canada. A road trip where the Bruins won all six games, made two trades that are seemingly brilliant (so far), and vaulted themselves into a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference. Thus, giving the victor of this contest sole possession of 2nd. Both teams have 81 points thru 63 games with identical 37-19-7 records.
There are a few areas of concern that could hurt both teams in their quest for 2 points this evening. The Bruins are coming home from 2 weeks away from home, they haven't seen their wives, children or slept in their own beds. A let down is a real possibility. The Lightning on the other hand, are playing the second game of a back to back in which they lost the first game to New Jersey last night.
No matter what the situation, this is a battle of the Eastern Conference's Elite. Both teams have zero real excuses for not bringing a solid, gritty effort tonight. Expect to see Tim Thomas in net as he only played in 2 games on the road trip, as Tuukka Rask was able to get the W in the four others.
Prediction: The Lightning are a formidable squad. If not for their loss last night in NJ, I would have pegged them for the W. But I cant see them solving a well rested Tim Thomas tonight. The Bruins get some timely goals from the first line. Bruins 4 - Lightning 2
